Gibeon is mentioned in two places in the Holy Scriptures:

1. When Joshua asked God to change the laws of nature:
   "Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon." Joshua, 10:12
   Joshua requested that the sun be kept from setting and for the moon to not yet appear so that the Israelites could take their revenge in the light of day.
2. When God appeared before King Solomon in Gibeon, King Solomon asked his wish request. He asked to be granted a wise heart.
   "In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee." Kings 1, 2:5
   On these occasions, God helped his appealers by granting them their wish to alter the laws of nature.
